DeKalb County Community Foundation creates Web site for nonprofit organizations
November 19, 2007
A new Web site created by the DeKalb County Community Foundation makes locating information on DeKalb County’s nonprofit organizations more convenient.
The DeKalb County Nonprofit Directory provides individual profiles of area 501(c)3 nonprofit agencies and their services to the county.
The site was designed to increase awareness of area nonprofits and provide an easily accessible resource for individuals interested in finding information on nonprofit services in the area. Funding from a private donor made creation of the Web site possible.
“People can find this information on their own, but it would take a lot of time,” said Jerry Smith, executive director of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. “The directory is a wonderful one-stop source.”
In addition to providing descriptions of each organization, the directory also lists contact information and links to their Web sites. Volunteer opportunities are also available for viewing. Organizations can add their nonprofit services to the directory for free after registering on the site.
“They can go in and build their own Web site,” Smith said.
Nonprofit organizations can register now and edit or update their information at any time.
“The directory really gives them another way to enhance their visibility in DeKalb County,” Smith said. “What we might do at some point is ask agencies to link from their Web site.”
The DeKalb County Nonprofit Directory can be found at www.dekalbcountynonprofits.org.
A link to the directory is also on the Community Foundation Web site at www.dekalbcountyfoundation.org.
