Used cars and Scions are big sellers amongst college students

When it comes to buying a car, college students must consider price as much as style.

In Sycamore, a recently established Toyota Scion car dealership aims to market its cars to the younger demographic around DeKalb and Sycamore. The dealership has been in operation for a month but has yet to construct its roadside sign. It was formerly the Joyce car dealership before being bought out by the Brian Bemis Automotive Group.

Adam Lowry, a product specialist for Toyota and NIU student studying for his master’s degree in business, says used cars and Scions are the big sellers for college students.

“College students don’t have a lot of money and need something more affordable and dependable, which is why they’re mostly attracted to the Scion,” Lowry said.

Exclusive to the Scion product is its global “Pure Pricing” hassle-free policy. The policy attempts to help a customer buy a car by keeping nothing hidden and providing all costs on the sticker price, especially for those who have never purchased a brand new car.

Used cars of other makes and models are also sold on the lot.
