IEPA director to discuss greenhouse gas
November 6, 2007
Doug Scott, former mayor of Rockford and director of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency will be at NIU to discuss how the state is working to reduce greenhouse gases Wednesday, Nov. 7 in the auditorium hall of Montgomery.
Scott was appointed director of the IEPA by Gov. Blagojevich and is involved in the governor’s efforts to make Illinois a national leader in protecting the environment and public health. This strategy will add to the progress Illinois has already made in attempts to reduce greenhouse gases.
Scott also chairs the Illinois Climate Change Advisory Group. This group may recommend that the governor enact certain policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Andrew Krmenec, chair of the Department of Geography, will continue the attempt to keep students informed on this topic when Recebba Stanfield, state director of Environment Illinois, also visits campus later this semester.
