Two die in weekend crashes

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two fatal crashes that occurred Sunday in DeKalb and Hinckley.

Joshua D. Thompson, 32, of DeKalb, was pronounced dead at 1:44 a.m. at the scene of a single-vehicle accident by Deputy Coroner Danny Lee. According to a DeKalb County Coroner’s Office press release, Thompson was traveling northbound on Annie Glidden Road when the vehicle he was driving went off the road and stopped in a ditch on the west side of the road. The accident took place just south of Mayfield Road.

In a separate single-vehicle accident, Karl P. Klambauer, 46, of Hinckley was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Karlene Dolder. Klambauer was southbound on East Sandwich Road just north of 8867 E. Sandwich Road when the scooter he was driving went off the road and stopped in the ditch on the west side of the road, according to a DeKalb County Coroner’s Office press release. Klambauer was not wearing a helmet, according to the release.
