October 22, 2007
The NIU lacrosse team finished its fall season this weekend, hosting the 20th annual Northern Illinois Fall Classic.
The Huskies went 2-1 at the tournament, including one forfeit win. The Huskies’ lone win came over Iowa, 8-6, while they lost 7-5 to Michigan Tech.
Though the Huskies won their first game and lost their second, NIU coach Rick Slonski said his team played better in the loss.
“In the first game, we didn’t play as well,” Slonski said. “In the second game we played a lot better.”
Wisconsin was the tournament champion, beating Purdue 6-5 in the championship game.
The Huskies finished the season with a 3-5 record and will resume play in the Great Lakes Lacrosse League in the spring.
