Police arrested a Rochelle resident after an armed robbery Saturday evening in University Plaza.

About 5:30 p.m., a Kishwaukee College student was robbed by two suspects at gunpoint inside University Plaza, 900 Crane Drive. The victim’s money was stolen and the suspects left the scene afterward.

The incident began in a room at the plaza, where they were socializing. After leaving the room, the victim was robbed in the hallway near the elevator. No injuries were reported.

“Because of the circumstances of what they were doing, it was known the victim had cash on him,” said Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department.

One of the suspects, William Upchurch, 19, of Rochelle, was later found and arrested in the 100 block of Annie Glidden Road. Upchurch is charged with armed robbery. The second suspect is still being looked for and no description was available.

The victim is believed to have known the suspects, and it was not a random robbery, Spangler said.
