NIU campus visited by Carrots

A nationwide model search came to DeKalb on Thursday.
Yes to Carrots, an organic line of face, body, and hair care products, is looking for models to represent the line.
The search made its second stop Thursday at the King Memorial Commons.
“Yes to Carrots is looking for fresh new faces and it made sense to us to stop at various universities around the country that are close to the metropolitan areas – New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, etc. – and contain diverse student populations,” said Public Relations Representative WaleskaHigueros.
NIU is the only Illinois stop on the list of eight college campuses.
Yes to Carrots passed out free samples near Cole Hall Wednesday afternoon and during the day Thursday at MLK Commons in hopes of bringing in a large turnout for the model search.
Tierra Mason, freshman elementary education major, had never heard of the product before.
“I just tried it. It seems to work,” Mason said. “My hands are really soft.”
Other students had similar sentiments.
“It’s pretty smart,” said sophomore marketing major Stephanie Roels. “Everyone buys face products.”
The booth also attracted male students.
“It’s awesome! My hands smell nice,” said graduate student Nathan Hess.
Winners of the model search will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York or Los Angeles for a photo shoot and will appear in Elle magazine. The winner will also receive a one-year modeling contract with Yes to Carrots and a $10,000 cash prize.
“[The prize money] is very attractive.” Mason said. “It’ll pay off my tuition.”
Yes to Carrots products are available exclusively at Walgreen’s.
