Summer Music: Lollapalooza in Chicagoland
August 28, 2007
How can we talk about summer music in Chicagoland without mentioning Lollapalooza? And how can we talk about Lollapalooza without mentioning Parisian dance moguls Daft Punk?
The two deejays who rarely tour, especially in America, co-headlined the first night of the festival. It’s extremely safe to say their performance was unlike any other of the summer. Inorganic in literally every way possible way, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo appeared fully-masked in robot costumes and played no instruments.
Bangalter and Homem-Christo did nothing more than stand in their 15-foot-tall pyramid, bobbing their heads, and still the crowd was so ecstatic to be there that nothing else mattered.
The sheer crushing volume of the event and the mind-melting light show were more than enough to please the crowd.
