Pizza Pros moving to new location

DeKALB | A new Pizza Pros location will give the restaurant the chance to evolve in new ways.
Pizza Pros, 928 W. Lincoln Highway, has tentative plans to move into its new location July 1, but is not guaranteeing anything.
“It will kind of be like a sports bar,” said Pizza Pros manager Jim Kinzel said.
Delivery and carry out will be in a different section than dining.
“We’ll have TV’s,” said Robert Schlect, Pizza Pros general manager, “I would like something that reflects the college.”
The restaurant applied for a liquor license a few months ago for their new location, Schlect said. They are also looking to expand and experiment with their menu, possibly serving hamburgers for example.
Currently, Pizza Pros is working on transforming its new location, previously known as the Huskie Grill and Sports Bar at 1205 W. Lincoln Highway and specifically is working on the kitchen.
“We pretty much gutted the whole thing and started from scratch,” Kinzel said. “We wanted to have a full dining facility [and] delivery,”
Plans include expanding the current kitchen to twice the size, incorporating a dining area, and maintaining a delivery and carry out area.
Rather than starting the move in a month and working partially out of the building while the rest was fixed up, Pizza Pros wanted both events to happen at the same time.
The future of the current location is still unknown.
“They’re trying to find somebody [to move in]. Right now nobody has committed,” Schlect said.
