Club employees stabbed

DeKALB | DeKalb Police arrested a Bellwood man for his involvement in a brawl outside Club 122 that occurred at 12:19 a.m. Sunday.
The altercation occurred at the side entrance of the club, located at 122 S. First St. The altercation escalated into a fight. During the fight, two employees were stabbed. One employee suffered a stab wound to the left shoulder and the other was stabbed in the left back. Both were treated at Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
Sgt. Jason Leverton of the DeKalb Police said the employees were stabbed with a small knife and the police do have the weapon in their possession.
“The employees were at the back door, turning people back who wanted to enter,” Leverton said. “They were at capacity.”
Police stopped two vehicles leaving the scene. Witnesses identified one of the passengers, Rufus T. Sims, 23, of Bellwood, as being the offender who stabbed an employee.
DeKalb Police arrested Sims and charged him with two counts of aggravated battery. Battery is a class 3 felony, punishable by two to five years in the penitentiary and a fine of $25,000.
Sims is currently being held at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Sims’ bond hearing will be at 8:45 a.m. today.
