DeKalb, Sycamore hold combined elections
April 10, 2007
DeKALB | DeKalb and Sycamore are holding their consolidated elections Tuesday, and residents have many options on where to vote.
DeKalb is divided into seven wards, and each ward is divided into precincts. There are 36 precincts. Where to vote is determined by what precinct you live in and are registered in.
Polling centers are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Donna Johnson, DeKalb City Clerk, said the polls most likely won’t have busier or slower times, although more people will likely be going before or after work.
Johnson said it’s not a big election year, but it’s still an important race. Four aldermen are running, which would be the majority in the council. “More interest is in the municipal election for mayor, but this is the alderman majority, so it’s just as important.” Johnson said.
Always bring your voter registration card and an ID when you go out to vote, said Sharon Holmes, DeKalb County Clerk. Also, don’t forget to fill out both sides of the ballot, Holmes said.
Although it’s too late to register now, you can verify if you’re registered to vote by calling the DeKalb County Clerk’s office at 815-895-7147.
