Ill. state university democrats will touch base in DeKalb
March 30, 2007
Representatives from universities around Illinois will meet this Saturday for the Illinois Federation of College Democrats Convention.
Registration for the convention will take place at 10 a.m. in the Campus Life Building before moving to the Holmes Student Center for the rest of the day.
Universities represented include Southern Illinois, Illinois State, Western Illinois and Eastern Illinois.
The convention will serve as an opportunity for students to voice their opinions on different issues of concern.
“Each school will discuss the different ideas that they have for their own organization,” said Ryan Kerchner, president of the IFCD. “It brings a community together and lets us know what everybody’s been doing.”
The convention serves as a good opportunity for students to learn more about the organization, Kerchner said.
“Being a part of this organization gives me a real good opportunity to know about the candidates who are running for president,” he said.
State Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia will serve as a keynote speaker for the luncheon.
