Showdown: Bears vs. Colts
February 2, 2007
DeKALB | Two junior finance majors, Eddie Anderson and P.J. Tantillo squared off, rapid-fire style, just days before the Super Bowl.
Anderson is in the minority; He’s a Colts fans attending NIU and has heard it all leading up to the game.
Tantillo, a die-hard Bears fan, lost a coin flip with a friend to see who would attend the NFC Championship game two weeks ago. He’s hungry for a Bears victory.
Northern Star: Who is your favorite player?
Eddie Anderson: Peyton Manning, by far.
P.J. Tantillo: Brian Urlacher.
NS: Who are you most worried about on the opposing team?
EA: I’m worried about Rex Grossman having a good game.
PT: Reggie Wayne…well, actually, all of the Colts receivers.
NS: Where will you be watching the game?
EA: At home, by myself, away from Bears fans.
PT: I’m having a party at my apartment.
NS: What has this done to your friendship?
EA: It has added a lot of trash talking.
PT: We haven’t watched the games together to get away from any conflict.
NS: Do you guys have any bets on the game?
EA: Yeah, the loser has to wear the opposing team’s jersey for an entire weekend out.
NS: Could you have imagined your team being in this position at the beginning of the year?
EA: If they could get by the Patriots, I knew they had a good shot.
PT: Yeah, because I knew the NFC was very weak and I’ve been a fan of Rex since the beginning.
NS: Will you be going to class on Monday?
EA: Win or lose, I won’t be in class.
PT: No way, win or lose.
NS: What is the key to your team’s victory?
EA: Stopping the run and moving the chains.
PT: Running the football and keep Peyton Manning off the field.
NS: How much would you be willing to pay to attend this year’s Super Bowl?
EA: I’d pay $2,000 for a pair.
PT: I’d go with $3,000.
NS: Let’s hear a quote that describes your confidence heading into the game.
EA: “Grossman to Bob Sanders – Touchdown Colts!”
PT: “Barbaro is not the only Colt which will die this week.”
