DeKALB | A DeKalb woman died in the wake of the snowfall that struck DeKalb Friday.

The DeKalb County Coroner’s Office pronounced Luann Baker, 75, dead at Kishwaukee Community Hospital at 4:50 p.m. Friday, according to a Coroner’s Office statement.

The Coroner’s Office said Baker was at her residence removing snow from her driveway when her son backed a vehicle out of the driveway and struck her.

Larry Breeden, a minister at Christ Community Church, where Baker worshipped, knew her for two years and said she was involved in leading and participating in lady’s community groups.

“She was a lady of great faith and a real servant,” Breeden said. “She was always looking for a way to help out.”

DeKalb Police Chief Bill Feithen said Baker’s son was issued a ticket for improper backing and that the investigation into the incident continues.

“There’s nothing that would indicate anything other than a tragic accident,” Feithen said.

The coroner’s office said Baker’s death is, so far, the only one that is related to the snowfall.
