The Barn makes way for Reilly’s

DeKALB | Reilly’s Restaurant and Bar is anticipated to open between Monday and Wednesday next week at 1215 Blackhawk Road. The restaurant is at the same site, albeit renovated, as The Barn, which closed near the end of the spring 2006 semester.

Co-owner Nick Karounos said Reilly’s will be an “all-American” eatery, the menu including burgers, sandwiches, pasta and wings. The restaurant also will offer a signature one-pound burger.

The location will feature live entertainment, karaoke, a banquet room and a separate bar area for patrons 21 years and older.

The restaurant still is in need of liquor license approval, but DeKalb City Clerk Donna Johnson said Reilly’s is expected to pass local requirements.

To order liquor, the establishment needs to get a state liquor license. However, they still need a local liquor license to serve it.

“Reilly’s got a copy of the license, but won’t have an original until they meet city requirements,” Johnson said.

One member of Phi Sigma Kappa, the fraternity across from the restaurant’s location, said he thinks the new restaurant will bring a positive image to the area.

“Reilly’s will be better than what was there before,” said sophomore business major Ryan McNay. “It will be a lot more controlled and look better for the area.”
