November 27, 2006
DeKALB | A fire on Saturday afternoon at 3499 White Oak Drive resulted in $20,000 worth of structural damage, according to a DeKalb Fire Department press release.
The misuse of a lighter was established as the cause of the fire. The fire was contained to the materials initially ignited, which were described in the press release as a cardboard box and paper products.
About 50 gallons of water were used to douse the flames. There were no injuries sustained.
Heavy smoke damage was concentrated in the basement and the ground floor suffered light smoke damage.
Structural damage to the windows was necessary to ventilate the smoke so the DeKalb Fire Department could attack the blaze.
