DeKALB | Two more robberies occurred near Greek Row over the weekend, continuing the trend that began shortly after Homecoming Week.

The first robbery happened at 12:01 a.m. Saturday on the 800 block of Normal Road. According to a DeKalb Police statement, a vehicle drove up the street toward the victim. A passenger got out of the vehicle and approached the victim, demanding “money or drugs.”

Police said that the suspect knocked the victim to the ground, but the victim managed to flee without injury and without losing any money or possessions.

The suspect is described as a male black 6’2″ in height, about 20 years old, wearing a black knit cap with a white line in front and a black jacket.

Police said that officers have located the vehicle allegedly used in the incident and are continuing the investigation.

A second incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. Sunday. According to a police statement, the victim said that he was walking on the 800 block of Kimberly Drive when he felt something pressed into his back. A suspect ordered the victim to hand over money and then went into the victim’s pocket.

Police said that the suspects stole money from the victim and then fled on foot, heading north. The victim did not sustain injury.

DeKalb Police detectives and a K-9 Unit from DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.

“One of the K-9 deputies went over to determine what they could track,” said DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Van Bomar. “In a case like this, they’re trying to see if they can track the actual offender.”

Police have not yet made arrests in connection with these incidents and the investigations continue.

DeKalb Police Chief Bill Feithen declined to comment on specifics of the cases, but said that leads have developed and the investigations are going well.
