DeKALB | The Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St., will get buff Saturday.
Students and area residents will be able to watch bodybuilders from around the nation compete at the Organization of Competitive Bodybuilders Midwest States Natural Bodybuilding and Figure Competition, and will also be able to make donations to Toys for Tots.
The competition will start at 11:30 a.m. with a prejudging, followed by a bodybuilding and figure “how-to” seminar at around 2 p.m. The final judging is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Tickets will be on sale for $15 for the prejudging. Tickets for the finals are $15 for students with an NIU OneCard and $25 for non-students. A $5 discount for non-students will be applied with the donation of a toy.
“These are people who have average lives who have chosen to build healthy physiques while still being a normal person,” said Ray Binkowski, CEO of Ergoteknix Inc., the company promoting the event.
