DeKALB | The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident that occurred early Sunday at 2:56 a.m. on Irene Road north of Baseline Road.

The vehicle was traveling southbound on Irene Road when it veered off of the roadway to the right, then back across both lanes of traffic. The vehicle entered the east ditch and rolled into a nearby field. The accident remains under police investigation.

According to a DeKalb Police report, the driver, Adam D. Oates, 18, of Kirkland, was killed, with the cause of death yet to be determined.

The passenger, Aaron D. Oates, 22, also of Kirkland, was transported to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford and arrested with charges pending.
