DeKALB | DeKalb Police apprehended a suspect in connection with a sexual assault on Wednesday, according to a police statement.

Police responded to the 1000 block of State Street at 10 a.m., finding that the suspect, Paul Noble Jr., 32, of Chicago, allegedly assaulted the victim. The victim had an active order of protection against Noble, according to DeKalb County Circuit Clerk records.

DeKalb Police allege that Noble entered the victim’s residence by force and forced her into a stairway, where he disrobed her, sexually assaulted her, and punched and choked her, according to Circuit Clerk records.

The victim convinced Noble to leave before calling police, according to Circuit Clerk records. Police said Noble left the residence and police apprehended him on the corner of 10th and State Streets at about 2 p.m.

Noble told police the sex was consensual, according to Circuit Clerk records.

DeKalb Police Sgt. Gary Spangler said there is a history of domestic incidents between Noble and the victim. Noble’s alleged entry to the victim’s residence violates an Oct. 16 order of protection, according to Circuit Clerk records.

“It looks like the assault maybe took minutes, but the suspect was with the victim for a few hours before and after the actual assault,” Spangler said.

The victim received treatment at Kishwaukee Community Hospital and was released with minor injuries.

Noble faces charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault and home invasion, both Class X felonies, and a violation of an order of protection, a Class A misdemeanor. The combined bond for the charges has been set at $1,000,000, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Noble is being held at DeKalb County Jail.
