Volleyball takes match in five games on road

DeKALB | After clinching the MAC West last week, the NIU women’s volleyball team found itself in a dogfight at Miami-Ohio Saturday.

The Huskies were down 2-0 before regrouping and winning the final three games to take the match 28-30, 19-30, 32-30, 30-28 and 15-10.

NIU improves its record to 18-8 overall and 11-3 in the MAC, while Miami falls to 12-15 overall and 8-6 in the MAC.

During the game, freshman Cassie Yates saw playing time when Irene Johnson went out with an upper-body injury. According to Gooden, the injury was not serious.

Kate McCullagh tied her career high with 34 kills during the match.
