Walk for a cure

On Sunday, Oct. 15 the first Aurora “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk occurred, with just short of 1,000 participants. The event took place at the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall, and was held by the American Cancer Society. Survivors, family members and supporters were among those at the walk.

At the walk, many stressed the importance of support for individuals with breast cancer. The walk was expected to raise $100,000.

“I work with a breast cancer survivor. We’re here to support her,” said Palatine resident Betty Fath.”I have a lot of breast cancer in my family, and I’m showing support,” said McHenry resident Mona Westphal.”A good friend and colleague lost the fight, and I’m here for her,” Shorewood resident Phyllis Saidat said.
