‘Leaves From a Fairy Book’

Natalie Bayard, a junior theater and dance major, is the stage manager for “Leaves of a Fairy Book,” and she took some time out of her schedule before Monday night’s rehearsal to answer a few questions.

Northern Star: What was the biggest challenge you faced?

Natalie Bayard: Coming into a show that had been done already. Also, organization and getting ready to work in the space and atmosphere of O’Connell.

NS: How about challenges for the cast and crew?

NB: For the cast, the space is deeper and not as wide as what they have performed on. The space is flipped. For the crew, it was bringing new people into a pre-existing show.

NS: What was the motivation behind this particular show? Why do this show, specifically?

NB: I wanted to work with the director, Chris Markle, and I wanted to be in a new space with something that was done already.

NS: What have you gotten out of the experience as stage manager? Would you change anything?

NB: I learned a lot working with Chris Markle and being with a production that’s been around the world. Changing anything? Getting more info, maybe, but I wouldn’t change anything.

NS: What do you want people to take away from this show?

NB: Enjoy it — it’s a fun show.

NS: Do you feel ready to open the curtain to the public?

NB: Yes. We’ve been very ready; lots of progress was made.
