Police find murder weapon
April 2, 2006
DeKalb police found the weapon they believe was used in the gang-related shooting last Tuesday on the 200 block of North Seventh Street.
Police searched the home of the suspect, Max Keding, 15, of DeKalb, in an attempt to locate the missing weapon and recovered a .22 semi-automatic pistol.
Police found the gun in the attic of the garage.
Keding formally was charged with first degree murder on Wednesday and his bond was set at $1,000,000.
The recent shooting has brought the DeKalb police department and DeKalb School District together to host an informational meeting for all DeKalb residents at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St.
Organizers will address the Jayson Martin homocide, gang activity and police and community measures to preserve the peace.
