Raising money for community service

NIU’s Society for Hospitality Administration will host a dinner theater and silent auction to raise money for community service.

The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as well as the silent auction, said Jodie Hart, senior hospitality administration major and president of SHA. A plated dinner and dessert will follow.

After the dinner, guests will attend the “Spring Dance Concert” in the Stevens Building presented by the NIU School of Theatre and Dance.

“This event is our first ever fundraiser of this magnitude,” said Jamie Kresen, a senior hospitality administration major and vice president of SHA.

Lan Li, adviser of SHA, said the group is a new student association with a one-year history.

“[SHA] is a professional association for students pursuing careers in the hospitality industry such as hotels, restaurants, theme parks and cruise lines,” Li said.

Tickets for the event are $45 per person.

“There is also an open bar included in the ticket price which a lot of people are not aware of,” Kresen said.

“We would like to raise $1,500,” Hart said.
