DeKalb County has 3 more burglaries
April 23, 2006
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s office received three reports of burglary between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday in southern DeKalb County.
The houses were located on U.S. Route 30, Shabbona and Preserve roads in Shabbona.
There are no suspects yet, but police are checking leads, said DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott.
This string of burglaries is believed to be connected with the five residential burglaries that occurred April 14, police said.
Those five burglaries occurred in northern DeKalb County along Base Line Road, Esmond Road, Rich Road, Old State Road and Route 72.
“Many of the residences were unlocked, and the burglars just walked in,” Scott said. “Or they broke in a back door, somewhere away from the highway.”
DeKalb County residences should report strangers who show up at their door asking for gasoline, directions or asking for a name of somebody who does not live in the neighborhood, because it is most likely a ruse to see if anybody is at home, he said.
Evidence was found at the scenes of the burglaries, but police are unable to talk about it, Scott said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Rudi Ziegler at 895-7230 or Crime Stoppers at 895-3272.
