The DeKalb Liquor Commission decided to fine two establishments for underage drinking violations during its meeting Monday.

Mardi Gras Lanes, 1730 Sycamore Road, and Lord Stanley’s, 142 E. Lincoln Highway, will be fined $750 for the violation and $150 in court fees for a total of $900 to be paid from each. No suspension will be given to either.

Molly’s Eatery and Drinkery, 1022 W. Lincoln Highway, and The Barn, 1215 Blackhawk Road, also have been charged with serving alcohol to minors. The previous operator of The Barn was sick and unable to attend. The current operator John Gloss was in attendance. The hearing for the two bars will be held April 26 at 3 p.m.

Mayor Frank Van Buer questioned Mardi Gras Lanes’ current policy. The bowling alley will now have hourly checks for identification by managers.

Mark Thompson, operator of Lord Stanley’s, admitted to the charges, but claimed the three minors found did present valid identification to the bouncer. The officers found no false identification on the minors.

Thompson also requested the state police be more polite to the customers when checking bar patrons. An Illinois state police officer was in attendance, and claimed a supervisor was on duty and would not allow any unprofessional behavior.
