Star prints mathematical error in voting story
March 30, 2006
On page 3 of the March 29 Northern Star is a story on “Estimated Voter Turnout Low.” The story claims 300 voters out of 25,000 students is “0.012 percent.”
That is incorrect — 300 out of 25,000 is 1.2 percent.
It seems proofreaders ought to know a little math, in addition to a lot of English.
