12 cars burglarized in Greek Row area

Greek Row fell victim to a string of car burglaries the Saturday night before Spring Break.

DeKalb police found 12 cars in the area of the University Plaza parking lots, 900 Crane Drive, the 800 block of Greenbrier Road, Edgebrook Drive, Kimberly Drive and Normal Road that had been damaged or possibly entered illegally.

University Plaza security said it patrols until 4 a.m. every morning and did not see anything and the video cameras did not provide any information because it was too dark.

The burglars broke front or rear windows or pried locks out of the doors in order to gain entry.

Some cars had missing stereos and scattered items inside and outside the car.

“We don’t have any suspects yet, but we hope that if somebody hears a car window break they call us,” said DeKalb Police Lt. Jim Kayes.

There isn’t a place in DeKalb to sell a used car radio, he said.
