Warrants out for juveniles
February 2, 2006
DeKalb police arrested someone involved in two recent crimes and issued warrants for two more people.
The three subjects were allegedly involved in a car burglary that occurred at Campus Cinemas, 1015 Blackhawk Road, and an armed robbery that occurred in the 200 block of West Locust Street.
Both of these incidents occurred Jan. 8. During the Locust Street robbery, the three suspects, one wielding a crowbar, robbed a male victim of some musical equipment.
Joshua Dell, 21, of Aurora, apparently sold the stolen music equipment to a resale shop in Aurora, said Gary Spangler, DeKalb police sergeant of investigations.
The victim told the owner of a local resale shop in DeKalb what happened, Spangler said. The owner repaired the victim’s equipment before it was stolen.
The owner happened to see the equipment while visiting a similar store in Aurora, he said.
Dell has been arrested and charged with robbery and burglary and is currently being held in DeKalb County jail on a prior charge of a different local burglary.
The local burglary charge is from a Jan. 11 burglary in DeKalb in which a stereo was taken but has now been recovered.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Moses Williamson, 17, of Aurora, for charges of armed robbery and burglary as well as a 15-year-old Aurora male who will be charged with robbery and burglary.
Police also believe Williamson, the juvenile and a second Aurora juvenile were involved in a street mugging in Ottawa on Jan. 14, auto burglaries just outside DeKalb on Jan. 14 and a robbery at NIU on Jan. 15.
The victim of the Ottawa mugging was injured with a broken leg, Spangler said.
