Local entertainment tributes rock ‘n’ roll

This weekend there are a few different events in DeKalb to check out, including a Pink Floyd tribute with a light show, a one-man-band, a free show on campus and some rock music.
The House Café will host Cactrot Friday night. The band will bring a night of rock to the audience.
“Cactrot can be described as melodic pop rock that is stimulating to the senses,” said John Ugolini, president of Kickstand Productions. “They always put on a fun show.”
Think Floyd USA, a tribute to Pink Floyd, will play Friday at Otto’s Niteclub, 118 E. Lincoln Highway.
“They are a real good Pink Floyd tribute,” said Otto’s general manager Jeremy Eisenberg. “They incorporate a laser-light show into it. We’ve been bombarded with people wanting a Pink Floyd tribute. These guys do a heck of a job, and it will only be a matter of time before the word spreads about these guys.”
Otto’s will hold a 21-and-over show when The Pimps return Saturday night.
“The Pimps are a straight-up loud band with a little bit of rock and punk,” Eisenberg said.
The Douglas Hall C/D cafeteria is giving students an on-campus alternative Saturday. Local rock band Dear Me Dear You will perform a free show at 6 p.m.
“We don’t really have one particular sound that we like to call our music,” said Mike DeWitt, bassist of Dear Me Dear You. “When we started out we were more of a screamo band, but ever since then we’ve been writing a bunch of songs that kind of get away from that. We don’t like to stick with one defining genre, we just write whatever we feel like writing at the time.”
Across town Saturday night, Otto’s will host The Pimps.
