SA works on more security funding

The Student Association has been working on a Campus Security Fund. The fund was approved at the end of last semester.
The fund’s purpose would be to alleviate security costs for eligible organizations, said DuJuan Smith, president of the SA.
“This semester we’re just getting different organizations’ feedback on how the fund should actually operate,” Smith said. “A lot of student organizations on campus were complaining about the cost of security, which literally was $1,500 to $3,000 for each event, and a lot of student organizations could not afford that.”
The SA is also planning on expanding the Late Night Ride Service.
“We’ll be looking to adding an additional vehicle this semester for the Late Night Ride Service.” Smith said.
“It is something that students actually utilized, I have utilized it myself. I know the wait time has been about an hour and we’re hoping to decrease that as much as possible.”
