Revesz gets career-high 26 points off bench

With leading scorer Simone Redd out, Ohio needed to find an alternate source for production: enter Lauren Revesz.

Revesz filled the void left by Redd in the Bobcats’ 74-62 victory over the NIU women’s basketball team Saturday, scoring a career-high 26 points on her best shooting performance of the season.

The sophomore forward sank all eight of her free throws and shot 8 of 11 from the field, including two three-pointers.

Ohio coach Lynn Bria said Revesz performance was the difference in the game.

“I felt like Like Lauren stepped up in a huge way,” Bria said. “When you can feed a post player early it can relieve some pressure of scoring.”

Revesz scored from everywhere on the court. She hit jump shots with hands in her face. Revesz used a combination finesse and power to score in the post. The forward even played guard, driving by smaller and quicker players.

The Huskies tried to contain Revesz by putting forwards Kristin Wiener and Jennifer Uptmor on her, but Revesz was too aggressive down the stretch.

Whenever the Huskies would make a run on the Bobcats, Revesz was there to stop it.

Even after the loss, Huskies’ coach Carol Owens acknowledged Revesz’s impressive performance.

“She’s a really good player and they depend on her quite a bit. She does well on her footwork,” Owens said. “She has a outside shot that really [completes] her game. We let her dedicate the game.”

After the game, Revesz dedicated her performance to Redd.

“I knew we had to step up as a team because Simone was not playing, I was just trying do it for Simone,” Revesz said.
