Baseball inks four recruits

The NIU baseball team received four National Letters of Intent Tuesday.
Pitcher and outfielder Cody Beck (Bartlett), infielder Jordin Hood (Lake Zurich), outfielder Daniel Reed (North Iowa Area CC), and pitcher and first baseman David Reynolds (Sandburg) all signed on to play for the Huskies during the 2007 season.
The Huskies open their season Feb. 3 against Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
Outside the lines
Two NIU students were honored Nov. 21 for their work on and off the field.
Chris VanDuerm, junior midfielder for the men’s soccer team, was named to the Academic All-MAC team.
VanDuerm holds a 3.21 grade point average as an accountancy major.
Jessica Schauff, a junior runner for the cross country squad, was also named to the Academic All-Mac team.
Schauff, an accountancy major, has a 3.9 GPA.
Both Schauff and VanDuerm also received honors in NIU’s Academic Excellence Program for the second straight year.
