Search for attacker continues

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office now has a composite drawing to help in the search for the man believed to be responsible for the attacks of two women early last Wednesday morning.

Both incidents occurred in the area around Suburban Estates Apartments, about 10 minutes apart. The descriptions of the attacker in both cases were virtually identical.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the composite drawings were put together with the help of the victims. The victim was shown slides of different facial features. She chose the pictures which best matched that of the attacker. Those slides then were put together to form the picture.

The man is described as a white male in his early 20s, about five-foot-seven to five-foot-eight inches tall, with a slender build. He has short, light colored hair with bangs. At the time of the attacks, he was wearing a black baseball cap, black shirt, black cutoff sweat pants and black gym shoes.

In one of the cases, the man grabbed a woman as she was returning to her Suburban Estates apartment. He struck her in the face and threw her to the ground. The attacker then attempted to tear off her shirt but was scared away by the victim’s screams.

In the other case, the victim said she was grabbed in a provoking manner but was able to get away without further incident.

The sheriff was not available for comment on Wednesday, but as of Monday there were no new leads in the case.

Anyone who might recognize the picture or have information concerning the case is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 895-2155 or Crime Stoppers at 895-3272.
