Students have mixed opinions on Huskie Line

By Jack Miller

Thousands of people travel across campus and through the DeKalb community every day on the Huskie Bus Line system. With such a large amount of use, the bus system is both convenient and problematic for commuters. With that in mind, the Northern Star sought to answer the question: What likes/dislikes do you have about the Huskie Line?

“I just don’t understand why the Greek bus [route] stops running and the circle [route] has to take that route.”

– Sophomore Scottie Walls,

accountancy

“I like them because they get me to class.”

– Sophomore Jorie Welker,

pre-elementary education

“I think you could have more buses. If you live off campus, every 20 minutes is not enough.”

– Senior Armando Reddick,

sociology

“I don’t really use it because I commute from Elmhurst. I just park and walk.”

– Graduate student Jim Woehrly, psychology

“It takes a long time and is cramped so I would rather just walk.”

– Freshman Orlando Leal, accountancy

“It has [gotten] better. I like how they changed the Barsema shuttle to include the circle left and right routes.”

– Senior Denis Vasilescu, mechanical engineering

“I just don’t like it because it’s too crowded and people could just walk instead.”

– Junior Jennifer Mellske, mathematics education

“I think it’s great. Most of the drivers are my friends. My favorite route is 7 because it always gets me there on time.”

– Graduate student Okaka Opio Dokotum, English
