“Dog Soldiers”

By Richard Pulfer

With decent cinematography, above-par screenwriting and great acting, there’s certainly more to this werewolf B-movie than meets the eye. “Dog Soldiers” is a British horror movie that Sci-Fi Channel bought and then instantly adapted to its own. It shows because “Dog Soldiers” stands out like a redheaded stepchild among the flock of dreadful films such as “Boa,” “Python” and “Boa vs. Python.”

British soldiers are cornered by ravenous werewolves in a farmhouse. The movie succeeds in creating meaningful and compelling personalities to the poor grunts as they fight for their lives.

“Dog Soldiers” is a worthy rental for anyone looking for a break from routine horror, as well as fans of the werewolf sub-genre, which is admittedly, rather limited. With quirky one-liners to spare against a rapid-fire plot, “Dog Soldiers” is an howling good time.
