Kirkland man dies early Saturday morning

A 53-year-old Kirkland man died after a train struck him Saturday.
James Neale was walking on the train tracks behind the 400 block of West Main Street in Kirkland when the train, operated by Iowa, Chicago & Eastern Railroad, hit him. The train was travelling eastbound at the time of the accident.
DeKalb County Deputy Coroner Danny Lee pronounced Neale dead at the scene of the accident at 3:45 a.m.
The coroner’s office described the incident as a “mishap”.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death but was not able to comment as of press time. The coroner’s office has not released further information. Investigators do not suspect foul play.
