Stabbing causes collapsed lung
June 27, 2005
At 7:24 a.m. Sunday the DeKalb Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing in the 900 block of North 12th Street.
The victim of the stabbing, a 50 year old male, was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
He had been stabbed in the back and suffered a collapsed lung. His injuries are not life threatening.
The victim told the police his wife had stabbed him and then fled in her vehicle.
Dianatha Hardesty, 42, of 959 North 12th St., was taken into custody at 4th and Pine streets a short time later.
The victim plans to press charges, said Sgt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department.
“It looks like the [incident] was an argument over a personal matter,” Spangler said.
Hardesty has been charged with aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 Felony punishable by three to seven years and a fine of $25,000.
She is being held at the DeKalb County Jail and bail is set at $5,000.
