Rock ‘n’ roll band to play show at Otto’s

Rock ‘n’ roll act Mountain will make an appearance Friday night at Otto’s Niteclub, 118 E. Lincoln Highway.

Mainly known for its song “Mississippi Queen,” the trio will add its definitive touch of hard rock and blues to the downtown-DeKalb music establishment.

“They are bona fide rock stars,” said Nort Johnson, promotions director and talent buyer for Otto’s. “They hold a high degree of prestige in rock history.”

The group played one of its earliest shows at Woodstock in 1969 and success grew from there.

With the release of its first two albums, “Mountain Climbing” and “Nantucket Sleighride,” the trio made a name for itself among hard rock bands, but broke up in 1973 only to reunite and return in the late ’90s.

“To have Mountain in a venue like Otto’s is going to be a real treat,” Johnson said.

Johnson said he expects a sellout crowd along with an interesting mix of fans, ranging from the young to the old.

“It’s a show that will bring a lot of older Mountain fans,” Johnson said.

Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased through Otto’s Web site at www.ottosdekalb.com or at Record Rev, 817 W. Lincoln Highway.

“People who want to see a good rock show, this is for you,” Johnson said.
