Obama to visit Sycamore

By Justin Gallagher

U.S. Senator Barack Obama is coming to Sycamore Public Library Saturday to hold a town hall meeting.

It is Obama’s 21st town hall meeting since he was sworn in and will spend about an hour with DeKalb County’s residents.

At 2:30 p.m., a maximum of 500 people can file into the library, 103 E. State St. After Obama makes a few brief remarks, he will open the floor to residents.

Library officials recommend arriving early to find an available seat.

There will be no specific focus to the discussion, and this is not a partisan affair, said Obama’s Deputy Press Secretary Tommy Vietor.

His visit is a part of a series, said Steve Slack, who helped coordinate Obama’s election campaign. Just prior to his visit in Sycamore, Obama will stop in Rockford.
