Woman injures head on library escalator
April 13, 2005
An unidentified female was taken by paramedics from the Founders Memorial Library Wednesday evening after an accident on the escalator.
Witnesses at the scene claimed the woman fell down a library escalator and scraped her head.
Arthur Young, dean of University Libraries, was unable to confirm what happened to the female or how she was injured.
A crowd of people brought the injured woman to the door and wrapped her head with a rag to stop the bleeding, said Thomas Finn, a building service worker.
Many screamed for help and someone yelled for an ambulance, he said. Finn said there was blood at the lower level of the escalator which needed to be cleaned up.
Library officials at the scene had no comment, claiming it was too soon and not enough information was available. University officials also were unavailable for comment as of press time.
Further details will be online at www.northernstar.info as they become available and in Friday’s edition of the Northern Star.
