The NIU gymnastics team ended its regular season 7-10 after going 2-3 over Spring Break. The Huskies return to the Convocation Center when they host the MAC Championship on Friday.

NIU 192.950, Western Michigan 191.825

The Huskies won the vault, balance beam and floor exercise en route to their victory on March 13 to begin the break.

Sophomore Amy Ristvedt and senior Mariah Howard finished No. 1 in the vault and balance beam respectively for the Huskies only individual titles.

Junior Ashlee Williams finished second in the all around with a 38.450. Senior Kristina Campos finished fifth with a 37.300.

State of Illinois Classic

After an unusual performance in the uneven bars, the Huskies finished third at the all-Illinois event. Illinois-Chicago won the four-team event with a 195.250, while the Huskies scored a 192.750.

Williams won the all-around title with a score of 39.025 for the Huskies.

“We could have taken second and made a run at first if we didn’t have so many point deductions on the uneven bars,” NIU coach Mark Sontag said. “We did have a bitter sweet celebration as Ashlee finished as the best gymnast in Illinois.”

Central Michigan 196.725, NIU 193.200

Despite losing five-time MAC titlist Kara Reighard with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, Central Michigan placed its highest score of the season as the Huskies fell in their last regular season meet on Sunday.

Campos won the all-around title for the meet for the Huskies only victory. CMU swept the Huskies in all four events.
