One day after NIU wrestling rejoined the National Wrestling Coaches Association’s Top 25, senior co-captain Sam Hiatt was awarded MAC Wrestler of the Week.

The 133-pound Hiatt was 4-0 on the week with victories against Kent State, Ashland, Cleveland State and Slippery Rock. Three of the victories were by major decisions of at least 12 points along with one pin.

Hiatt, currently 19-5 on the season, won his 100th match with a 20-6 major decision over Kent State’s Mike Compton. With six more victories on the season, the DeKalb native would reach 25 wins for the fourth-straight year. At 104-35, Hiatt boasts a .748 career winning percentage.

The No. 24 Huskies (10-2 overall, 2-0 MAC) will put their 10-match win streak on the line against Ohio at 2:05 p.m. Saturday at the Convocation Center.
