Disappointed Haldi gives postgame reaction
November 10, 2004
Haldi played his last game at Huskie Stadium on Tuesday. The Huskies will finish the regular season on Nov. 20 at Eastern Michigan.
After the loss to the Rockets Haldi answered a few questions for the Northern Star.
NS: You guys jumped out to an early 17-7 lead and seemed to be in good position. What happened after that?
JH: Momentum is a great equalizer. They just made a play here and there and got the thing rolling. We had a chance to come out in the second half and make a statement on the first drive, but we weren’t able to do that. They just made more plays than us. You’ve gotta give them a lot of credit. We just gotta get back to the drawing board tomorrow and try and figure out what we did wrong and get better.
NS: The roll-out play your offense uses so much didn’t seem to be working today. Did you notice that as well?
JH: We thought going in that that was something we could take advantage of; get on the edge and make a play. You know, I gotta play better. I didn’t make great decisions. It’s just a combination of a lot of things. They did a better job than we did of executing and they were able to win.
NS: Was there a play or a series of downs or a drive that you thought the game turned on?
JH: I don’t think it’s one play. It’s just a series of things. I’m curious to see the film. We didn’t have the ball a lot and that’s what was frustrating. We didn’t keep ourselves on the field and when you do that you put your defense in a bind. Toledo ran 91 plays. As an offense, we can’t put our defense in that position.
