A collision near Waterman killed an Aurora man and injured two others Thursday.

Gale C. Wicks, 83, of 617 Galena Blvd. in Aurora, died in a two-car accident north of Waterman at 9:05 a.m. Chief Deputy Coroner David Jacobson pronounced him dead at the scene.

Wicks was traveling west on Lee Road in his 2002 Toyota Camry when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Lee and Waterman roads, said DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott.

A 1999 Ford Escort driven by David and Jill Simpson of Lee collided with Wick’s vehicle when he went through the stop sign, Scott said.

The accident injured both Simpsons. They were treated at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, 626 Bethany Road.

“The injuries were not life-threatening,” Scott said.

The accident remains under investigation at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office did not suspect alcohol or drugs as a factor in the accident. Scott did not expect any charges to be filed.
