O’Ryan: O’Ryan
October 27, 2004
This 16-year-old heartthrob O’Ryan sets out on his self-titled album to prove his skills.
Attracting the ladies is his forte with the ballads and songs like “Anything” saying, “You could be wifey material/Baby I’m not mad at you/Girl you get me high/See, I’ve been jonesin’/Got a crush on you/Not tryin’ to put a rush on you/We can let it ride/We can take it slow/Anything you want.”
Despite the attempt to create his own identity, he easily falls into the shadow of his brother Omarion and the boy-band style.
Several songs repetitively talk about fine ladies and partying, but suit his maturity level.
Ladies around 16-year-olds will love this, but as for the older crowd: uh, maybe.
His look is recognizable because he has a striking resemblance to his older brother, the former lead singer of B2K, so that will help with the sales.
Other young artists, such as J-Kwon, who made a mark with “Tipsy,” are featured on the track “Shorty,” but O’Ryan goes against the grain saying he’s too young to drink – which he is, and that’s something to admire.
He isn’t new to the business, but trying to be an individual will be a task in itself.
