DeKalb County Sheriff’s police are investigating the death of a 41-year-old Chicago man who crashed his car on Illinois Route 38 early Sunday morning.

Police said they believe Gregory W. Seipp lost control of his car as he was driving westbound one-quarter mile west of Pritchard Road. The car went off the roadway and crashed, ejecting Seipp from the vehicle.

Seipp was found about 100 feet from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:50 a.m.

The car came to a rest in a cornfield on the north side of Route 38.

The DeKalb County Coroner’s office is assisting with the investigation and an autopsy is pending.

The accident comes several days after a 23-year-old DeKalb man was killed Thursday on Barber Greene Road east of Somonauk Road when his vehicle crashed into a utility pole after passing a tractor-trailer.
