Kitchen helpers aren’t getting just desserts
October 26, 2004
I’ve been a kitchen helper for 15 years. I enjoy serving the students for breakfast. I’ve worked mornings with a kitchen helper who does most of the prep for the cook. This kitchen helper works just as hard and gets an unfair wage. Progress is being made for respect, rights and fair pay; but it has to be a better offer than what has been proposed so far. This offer is $7 to start and $8.30 after six years. With this kind of low pay, we hardly can make ends meet.
All of us (sister) kitchen helpers will stand together as long as necessary. Please contact President John Peters and tell him that you support us.
