Two Shabbona juveniles charged with setting fire to farm equipment

A two-week investigation led to the Tuesday arrest of two Shabbona juveniles wanted for a Sept. 23 Waterman arson.

DeKalb County Sheriff’s police arrested the two juveniles after a tractor fire at 11128 Shabbona Grove Road.

Police said the fire started when the two male juveniles siphoned fuel from two tractors, leaving a puddle on the ground.

They then lit the puddle, which started a fire that completely destroyed one of the tractors, police reported.

Both juveniles will be referred to juvenile court to face criminal charges.

Police were unavailable to comment on whether the juveniles had any previous contact with the tractor’s owner.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
